Using Videos for Social Media, Websites, Digital Signage and TV

This might be on their phone, on their computer, on social media, on digital signage etc. A person’s eye is naturally attracted to moving pictures, and many small and medium businesses are taking advantage of this fact by using videos for marketing.

Earlier, video was only used for TV advertisements which were expensive to place, especially if you wanted them to be aired at primetime. However, nowadays, video can be used for many other purposes. You can upload a short video to social media, to your website or to your blog; you can also use it on digital signage. Given that there are so many ways of using videos for business, it makes sense to consider the pros and cons of each.

Videos on Social Media

Videos on social media garner a lot of views. When people are scrolling down their feed, they stop whenever they see a video, especially if it’s a visually appealing one. In addition to posting videos to your social media account, you can also place video ads on social media. This is likely to increase interest in your brand and gain you more followers.

Social media videos don’t necessarily have to be like full-length advertisements. They can just be short “reels” which draw people in. They don’t take a lot of preparation and don’t require you to have a big cast and crew. However, it does help if they are professionally made.

Videos on Websites

Videos on websites are also useful because a lot of people don’t have the patience to read written content. They would rather hear it. So you can use informational videos on your website.

For example, if you are a lawyer, you can use a video to explain a certain legal point which your clientele might want to know about. Videos like this, in which you are talking to your audience, also give people an idea of your personality, and this can draw them in.

Videos on Digital Signage

Digital signage is a field that is becoming more and more popular. This is because digital signage can be placed anywhere where people are likely to see it—on bus stops, on top of taxis, in your company premises, in trains, in stores etc. One digital sign can lead into a lot of views, especially if it’s placed in a crowded area.

If you haven’t been taking advantage of this way of using marketing videos, then it makes sense to start now. The video doesn’t have to be too long, but it makes sense for this type of video to mention your company/product in writing because these videos don’t often have audio.

Videos for TV Advertisements

TV advertisements may be old school, but they are effective. If you place an advertisement in the middle of a TV program that many people are watching, you automatically get a lot of views which can lead into more website traffic and eventually, more customers.

However, keep in mind that TV advertisements need to be very polished, as opposed to social media videos or website videos. They need to tell a story, and they need to make that story very clear in a short space of time. You’ll need a bigger crew to put together an effective TV advertisement and you’ll need to make it extremely professional. Plus, a TV advertisement is very effective at branding, so you do need to be sure that the message you’re putting across is the one that you want the public to hear.
